This hotel leaves a great impression; it’s old and beautiful in the middle of Amsterdam. This hotel is still property of the Heineken family and very refine. The lobby, the reception, everything was left in the old style. The art in this hotel is worth a lot. When inside, you will be in a dream world.
reception
The reception is great, right from the beginning. The doors of your car will be opened for you and from that moment on you feel surreal. Service is a priority in this hotel. You will notice that late Freddie Heineken has left his influence on this hotel and its staff. The way he wanted to be treated is the way you will still be treated now. Nothing is too much and the staff will always be there for you. This is something most hotel staffs don’t do anymore nowadays. The reception is in one word grandly.
public areas
The public areas in this hotel can really be enjoyed. Very big with beautiful marble floors and pillars. The magnificent chandeliers aren’t missing either. All this gives you a royal feeling. From the hotel you have a perfect view on one of the most beautiful ditches that Amsterdam has got. A large part of water where different ditches end, doesn’t only make it great to look at, but also gives a great feeling of being in Amsterdam. The bars as well as the restaurants give a view on the water. It is great to sit outside by the water especially in the summer.
rooms
The rooms are just as magically beautiful as the rest of the hotel. Nothing is missing and most of the rooms give a view on the water and on the upper floor of Amsterdam. In the rooms too, you will feel the royal feeling. This makes a stay in this hotel like a dream.
halls
The halls this hotel has are the lobby and the restaurant. This might be the only thing that isn’t that great in this hotel. A piece of the lobby can be screened, but the privacy cannot be found anywhere. Giving a party or a conference in the restaurant isn’t a really good idea. There isn’t much room between the tables and the restaurant will not be adapted for you. There are a few little conference rooms, but they aren’t very big.
situation
The situation is really great. In the middle of Amsterdam, with the clubs, bars and other sightseeing are nearby. They are all easy accessible with the public transportation that is present at the place of the hotel.
